Winners of Butchery Awards are announced!

Craft Butchers from England and Wales found out this week if they brought home a coveted Category Win in the National Craft Butchers Product Awards!

NCB Product Awards 2024 categories were Game Product, 30 Minute meal, Traditional Black Pudding, Hot Eating Pie, Cold Eating Pie, Traditional Sausage, Innovative Sausage, Traditional Bacon, and Innovative Bacon. 

After a meticulous judging process, with comprehensive blind taste-testing of all entries taking place at Harper Adams, by a panel of industry experts the products that achieved our gold standard went on to be re-evaluated by Head Judge Stephen Derrick and industry expert Claire Holland.

This year also saw the return of our ‘Judges Choice’ with each judge choosing their ‘standout’ product throughout the day before unanimously choosing one winner.

Stephen Derrick, Head Judge said, ‘the standard of products this year was exceptional making our role all the harder, the winners really showcase the best of what retail butchers offer their customers’.

The 2024 Winners are:

Game Product – Archer’s Butchers, with their Venison Haggis Wellington

30 Minute Meal – Muffs of Bromborough, with their Tray Bake Trilogy – Guinness Wings, S&P Ribs & Truffle Parmesan Fries

Traditional Black Pudding – Muffs of Bromborough, with their Traditional Black Pudding

Hot Eating Pie – Owen Taylor & Sons, with their Lamb & Mint Pie

Cold Eating Pie – Owen Taylor & Sons, with their Stilton Pork Pie

Traditional Sausage – Carnivore, with their Fresh Herb Sausage

Innovative Sausage – Ringrose Butchers, with their Pork & Stir-fry Vegetable Sausage

Traditional Bacon – Walter Smith Fine Foods, with their Traditional Dry Cured Short Back Bacon

Innovative Bacon – S J Bebbington Butchers, with their Maple and Cinnamon Streaky Bacon

And the

Judges Choice – Ringrose Butchers, with their Lamb Marrakesh Pot

Representatives from National Craft Butchers conducted shop visits this week to announce the winners and present the trophies and certificates, with Category Sponsors invited to also attend.

NCB Product Awards respected judging panel is made up of master butchers, and industry experts led by Head Judge Stephen Derrick.
