Butchery Apprentice promotes Butchery Apprenticeships
Annie Jones, a Level 2 Butcher apprentice with NCB President, George Debman, recently flew the flag for butchery at a careers evening at Chantry Academy in Ipswich, with her training company, MEAT Ipswich.
Annie, who expects to take her end-point assessment soon, is a talented young butcher and absolutely passionate about the job. She says she has learnt so much, both on and off the job and is keen to promote butchery as an ideal career for someone interested in food and with a preference for learning practical skills. She is particularly proud of her ‘whole chain’ knowledge, gained both from her apprenticeship, but also from working with farmers and attending the livestock market with George to learn the art of buying live.
“Annie has really embraced all the aspects of butchery from farm to fork. She has a full understanding of carcass and primal breakdown, with some excellent mentoring from her team. Her butchery skills and customer services are knowledgeable and confident. Annie will make an excellent butcher and will most definitely help inspire, motivate and generate more interest from females in the meat industry.”
